Pressure Cooker!
I bought a simple stove top 6 quart pressure cooker and used it for the first time tonight! I was a bit afraid of doing something wrong, or burning myself, but after reading the manual, and watching a few Youtube videos, I understood the safety precautions I had to take.
My! I am wondering how I got on without this so long! It took 10 minutes to make a lets call chicken stew (no recipie), 8 for the actual cooking. I think I will be using this pressure cooker a lot.
Does anyone have any favorite Pressure cooker tips and hints, recipies? or stories? (My mother got beans all over the ceiling with one in the 70's. No idea how).

I don't use them myself but my mother made some wonderful food with hers. Sorry no recipes I do like to use my breadmaker to make the dough for cinnamon rolls that are very addictive.

You can use your pressure cooker to sterilize media for growing orchid seeds and raising plants in flask! A new phase of the hobby opens before you!

I used a pressure cooker almost every day when all my kids (6 ) were home. Pot roast I think was the most enjoyed meal with the potatoes and carrots in there...yummmmm. Almost anything you could do with your slow cooker you can do with the pressure cooker only 100 times faster!
I gave one as a wedding gift one time, and was told that it was the only thing they fought over in the divorce...lol...Jean

I have an "Instant Pot" that I use all the time. All the time! I've had it since February and have said (more than once!) that I wish I had gotten one years ago.
If you google "pressure cooker" recipes you will find a gazillion and when I'm looking for something new...google to the rescue.
This was my first "go to" site when I started doing all the pressure cooking - Pressure Cooker Recipes | hip pressure cooking
It has a lot of recipes, hints, tips...an absolute wealth of info. Also very helpful is the listing of cooking times for just about anything you could want to cook in your cooker. It's a great resource. Side note - I actually found this site when I was doing research into getting a pressure cooker and trying to decide which way I wanted to go.

Thanks everyone! I made my first pressure cooker meal last night. It was wonderful! i did not have any beef for pot roast. but I had those inexpensive chicken hind-quarters. I put spices, about 1 cup of water, potatoes, onions, carrots, peppers, and celery in the pot, and 8 minutes after the rocker started to rock, the food was done!
This is an old fashioned style stove top and not one of those gorgeous kitchen aid electrics. It was a bit scary because I had never seen the rocker rock, so I did not know what I would be looking for. I love the safety lock so you cannot open the pot when it is a certain heat.
Oh Katerina, those Instant Pots look lovely! That would really be worth getting! Maybe on Black Friday!
On monday I will try some soaked overnight beans. My brother makes the beans while I am staying here . We've gotten over arguments about the "right" way to cook beans. He boils them for about 2 hours and then puts them in the crockpot overnight. It is a 2 day ordeal. I am hoping I can get the same effect with overnight soaking and 30 minutes in the pressure cooker. Look at all the energy used!
