Spikes or bulb?

we have a C.cristata that have either spikes or new bulbs. Attached is a picture. Does anyone know what kind it is, will it be a flower or "just" another bulb?

Its the "thing" in the pink circle. We haven' had it for to long yet. And its the first one.
