Cattleya Luteola: high light or . . . .??
Default Cattleya Luteola: high light or . . . .??

There have been several posts about Cattleya Luteola. I have read both that it likes high light and that it does not. I would appreciate having your views/experience on this, and other parts of culture as well --- water, humidity. I have a small Cattleya Luteola, and it doesn't look bad but it doesn't look great either. The leaves are laying parallel to the bench rather than upright. Is this the way they are supposed to be? I have it in light where there is a tiny bit of red tinge at the edge of some of the leaves. Too much? Please chime in if you have one of these . . . .

I’m going to bump this up because I want to see if, hopefully, anyone else responds.

I’ve only had mine about a year and it is chugging along beautifully. No blooms yet, but I’m not sure if it old enough. Ive been giving mine more moderate light, it’s been hanging out between my Dens and some Catts where I’m sure it gets a bit of shading. Most of the leaves and pbulbs are growing vertical with a few at more of a 45degree angle. I don’t have any reddish color in my leaves both the light levels I am giving it. Have you looked at the Chadwick website? Cattleya luteola They list it as pretty adaptable to most light levels, as long as it is kept warm

Thanks for the responses. Yes, have seen the Chadwick. It seems to be the only in-depth piece on C. Luteola. I have seen that some offerings state specifically that the plant is 4N (tetrapoid)? and am wondering whether that makes much of a difference for this variety. (Have been reading about the advantages of Tetraploid in the Rebecca Northern book)
