Oddly, the same one I threw out. It was on the bargain rack all with a Dendrobium "Red Wings."

The roots on top look crappy. They are varying shades of brown, broken and dry. You can't really see that when the wrapper is on. Steve is correct, one stem looks fairly new. I don't see any eyes ready to erupt. The leaves look good, one is a tiny bit shriveled.

I was encourage with how well my Blue Hawaii was doing do I thought I'd give this a shot. So, I put it in a
tall terrarium with moss on the bottom. I can mist the leaves and rizomes without soaking it and spray the moss. The HR varies between 50-60% depending on the time of day. Temp is 77degrees at the highest. Ceiling fan blows down on all the chids.

You can get a piece of glass cut at the hardware store to set on the terrarium to keep humidity up. Either cut to fit snugly, and epoxy a handle near one edge, or cut to be too large in one dimension, so you can grasp the outside edges to lift.

If it's a larger aquarium with a crossbar at the top, get 2 pieces of glass cut.

It's a tall cone and the leaves do stick out the top.

I sometimes get better grow bag plants at a discount that look this.

I often take it out of the pot to assess the condition of the roots. You can take the root ball out without removing the medium. If the roots look OK, two options. (1) drop the root ball into a somewhat larger terracotta pot (maybe a 1 to 2 centimeter gap on all sides between root ball and new pot. water like normal until that newer growth starts popping roots, then repot. (2) tie the whole thing to a small cedar plank, newest growth facing the plank. Using a zip tie to hold it on is perfect. Don't worry about putting moss around the roots until you see some root growth. Just hang it outdoors in someplace shady where you will remember to water it.

Either treatment should give you new roots over the summer. You can then decide to pot it or mount it.

I put it in a tall, narrow terrarium, open at the top. I put moss under the pot (inside the terrarium) for humidity. After ES' last post, I put a clear bag over the top to keep the HR up. I am misting the roots and moss but trying to miss the leaves. From what l saw of the roots, they were broken and crappy. But I get the concept of waiting for new roots to start.

Dolly do you have any kelp? That would help to maybe start up some roots. Most of my Catt's have been growing allot of new roots since I started using Ray's kelpmax.

K-lite was my next purchase. I soaked it in fish emulsion. Then put it under glass as above. It has perked up.

I want to invest in Ray's product but I also want to use up what I have...thanks for he input!

Klite is fertilizer. I don't think it has kelp. KelpMax is kelp without added fertilizer.

If you put a light bulb in the plastic bag on top of that terrarium you maybe can convince family members it is a new lamp.

Well, then you would need a matching lamp for the other side of the sofa.
