Encyclia garciana
This is one of my few "non-Phalaenopsis" orchids (about 85% of my plants are Phals). It came from Andy's in a basket and in sphagnum and as a wet grower I've left it as he potted it. The plant likes to be watered every other day. I keep it in my mini area (it's by far the largest of my minis), quite close to the lights, where it gets humidity in the high 60%s, days at about 80 and nights down to about 68. The flower's fragrance is my new favorite, being sweet and very cinnamon-like.
I rarely name things but for obvious reasons I've named this plant "Jerry":

Thank you. I didn't realize it's a wet grower. It grows epiphytically on cactus in habitat! Mine came a year ago, mounted. The label says "Regular watering, drier winters." I lost part of the plant when it dried out for a few days, but it's making new growth right now. Now that I've read your post I'll keep it much wetter.

One of my favorite Prosthechea species, and my experience is also that it should not dry out for long. Great color and pattern on this one. But this is definitely Jerome, and I'm sure he is quite indignant about the nickname.

Nope, sorry. I'm an old hippie, and so this is Jerry garciana. And the plant is Gratefully Alive.
Jerome would have to have more red to it.
