Yesterday I brought the plant before the AOS judging at our monthly Toronto judging. The flowers wowed the judges and they bestowed it an award! It received an AM/AOS of 80 points! I'm tickled!!

Here was what the plant looked like at the time of judging:

And the award (valid when submitted and paid for):

The three buds on the second sheath will open in time for the Montreal show in 2 weeks. Hopefully the present opened flowers will last that long too, so that six flowers will present in a row! Bigger impact that way...

Super! I like the lip coloration of this species. So clean and bright. Also, it is not too large, so it is easy to find room for. But not easy to find on the market.
Love it.

Thanks all for your kind comments!

Yes Bohata, the plant has tight growths and height of plant is under 10 inches. In that 5 inch pot, you can easily have 10 pseudobulbs (PB). This one has 7 PB's, and will grow about four new growths next year in the same pot!

Btw I decided to name this cultivar 'Golden Trumpet' because it heralds in the golden era of orchid collection in the Brazilian rainforests of days past as well as its rarity (like gold). The trumpet alludes to the musical metaphor of angels playing music and the literal referral to the shape of lip. Both a symbolic representation of a rare form of a rare orchid, the much sought after treasure of the fabled Eldorado of Aztec folklore.
