Schomburgkia (Myrmecophila) tibicins odd new growth
I received an two bulb division of Schomburgkia (now Myrmecophila) tibicins. I didn't think it had a chance particularly since the base of the bulbs were black from being buried under rotten media. I stuck it in a basket with some tree fern chunks, and it sat for 18 months doing nothing. the myrmecophila bulbs are hollow and have what looks like almost a segmented series of chambers along the bulb. A few weeks ago, a new growth emerged from the joint line of the first segmentation. I found this highly unusual as i have never seen a new growth emerge directly from the side of a pseudo bulb like this. The new growth is growing VERY fast, only 3 weeks old in the pics and sprouting new roots and leaves.
Just thought i'd share what seems to me to be a very unusual growth habit i have never previously seen.
