Bc. Golf Green 'Hair Pig'
An orchid having a bad hair day!
My daughter went with me to Tamiami a couple years ago; she saw this blooming there and wanted one badly. I didn't have the big money to cough up for one then, but last year we went to Odom's and got one for her. It was big enough for me to cut a piece off for myself when I repotted it at home. Flowers are faintly fragrant, though I never tried it at night. (parentage is C. Moscombe x. Rhy. digbyana) Just a single bud per spike, but they're about 7"+. They've lasted pretty well in the mid to upper 80's temps we've been having.
My daughter's division; this pic was taken the day it opened fully. The next day, the bloom had flattened well. Hers opened 2 weeks before mine.
It made the centerpiece of my church's Easter cross!

I love it, want, want. I don't know if I could have cut it off for the cross but it sure is pretty.

There's another bloom on the plant yet, still going strong!
I have to add that I went and smelled it at around sunset last night, and it definitely inherited the fragrance from digbyana as well. Much much stronger than when I'd smelled it during the middle of the day, and with that same citrusy tang (still not as strong as digbyana though, hmm should go try it now that it's dark).
