Brassavola Bloom Questions Male
Default Brassavola Bloom Questions

My success with a B.'Little Stars' has given me an idea. The plant did very well on a piece of driftwood mounted on top of an aquarium, and when it bloomed two flowers perfumed almost my whole house. I'm in the process of redoing the aquarium, and was thinking that putting several Brassavola with different bloom seasons on it could extend the show. I want to stick with plants that have the typical nodosa appearance in both foliage and flower, and of course strong night time fragrance is a must! Species or hybrids are fine. And of course smaller is good......I am particularly looking for info on plants grown without much natural light.'Little Stars' blooms in December for me, and is currently starting to spike. So what have you got, and when does it bloom for you?

My Brassavola nodosa has been blooming off and on since spring, every time the new growth is mature. Since it keeps sending out new growth.... I had two of them doing this but the one had no fragrance so now it has a new home. Maybe all you need is the Little Stars and a really good nodosa.

I used to grow several Brassavola species and to my memory, the larger plants pretty much bloomed on and off all summer and into the fall.
