Lc. Dakao 'Flammea Enami'
C. Fliratious Okami x C. walkeriana
This is the 2nd time blooming for me. 2 years ago I mounted this small Catt. on a ceramic hollow log that can be filled with water. It has been reasonably happy mounted this way and put out a first bloom of 1 flower a few months after I mounted it. For some reason last spring and summer it grew well, but never bloomed. This spring, I have 4 new growths. The one in bloom here is a little further ahead of the others. It had two buds, but they all seem to be trying to find their way out before the leaves are out of the enclosing 'sarong'. I realized this and sliced it open but too late and the 2nd bud blasted. There is a downward growth with 3 buds and I sliced that sarong to free them. But yesterday one blasted. A 3rd growth has at least one bud nestled in its leaf and the 4th growth is a little too small to tell yet. The flower is 3 3/4 inches wide which is a good size as this would be a mini Catt. or compact Catt. for sure. It has a lemony scent.
I updated this with new photos on page 2 with several more buds opened up now.

That's what I call a showcase plant!
Love the mount, and how the LC grows on it.
Great inspiration!

Thanks! One day when I can coax a piece to grow onto a stick from its mount I will get you a piece Or if you are real impatient, I think Ching Hua had them.
