Epidendrum puzzle?
I have a reed stem epidendrum in a pot in my sunroom. It bloomed nicely last winter in January February. I repotted it after it finished blooming. It has been putting on new growth thinking new flower spikes should be showing up soon but the new growth at the apex sppears and then turns brown and dry with no flower spikes appearing. Then more new growth appears on another stalk and the same thing happens. Can't figure why I get plenty of new growth but then no flower spikes materialize

Hmm... how much water, light does it get?
Pix may be helpful, if you are able to post some.

The above discussed epidendrum is in my sun room with windows on three sides and two sky lights. Gets watered when it potting mix is near dry but not completely dry. So about every ten 10 days.

How big is the pot? Reed Epis really like to be pot bound.

I found mine liked more water than I was giving. I keep mine fairly damp, but not soggy.

I did repot into a bigger pot last spring from 6 to 8 inches. But if it's putting on new growth and the plant is getting bigger how does the size of the pot explain no flower spikes everything else being equal

The more I water mine the more it grows, the pot its in is a 12incher and is so root bound that its now spiking and this will be the second set of blooms in 5 months, your lighting sounds good so I think it might need a little more time before it starts to bloom again

I dont think its going to bloom again. It had several new spikes and then the tops turn brown-black with no buds. Then another new spike starts growing and then does the same thing. I cant figure out why I keep getting new growth but then when it comes time when the buds should start appearing, the tops roll over and dry up

Both my Epis are in 4" pots, potted in chc mix, and during summer get watered fairly often - usually 3xs a week. So it may be possible that more water during warm/hot temps, especially if humidity is low as well, may be necessary... If you don't already, use a skewer in the media to get an accurate idea of how dry or moist the media is.
