Default Well, this is a surprise (1st time blooming for noid)

I was given this plant, out of bloom and with no i.d., about 4 1/2 years ago. I could see no evidence of it blooming before. Perhaps it was not bloom size ...

Anyhoo ... it is now blooming for the first time. Large flower for the size of the plant - about 3". Pbulbs are only a bit over 1" high, and narrow; the largest leaf (on the currently blooming growth) is about 4 3/4"

I guess that due to the appearance of pbulbs and foliage, I was expecting blooms more Brassavola-like ...

I have not detected any fragrance - tho bloom has only been fully open 2 days.

Thanks for looking

No judgement... I stage all of my photos against a piece of black fabric so no one can see the mess around in my dining room/kitchen.

Beautiful bloom for such a small plant.

It looks just like my Otaara Hwa Yuan Bey 'she shu' that I posted a few weeks ago. It does have a scent, but it took about three days before I noticed it.

I actually think that backgrounds on photos submitted make them more real in some way. Ha
Now that's my kind of Catt, small plant with big blooms. Very nice!

Very pretty Sonya. What a score. I too think it looks otaara-like. Small pbulbs and long narrow leaves. Whatever it is I love it. My Mari's Song also takes a week to start to have fragrance. Very nice Sonya.

Awesome flower! I love your post and picture in front of the microwave! I always struggle for that perfect shot and I end up not posted many pictures because of what's in the background. I will definitely be posting more pics; thank you for the inspiration!!
