Cattleya trianaei 'Jungle Feather'
I've had this plant for over 8 years. It finally produced this single bloom. I've also given divisions of to 5 other local growers and none of them can bloom it well either. I'm looking at it as a Christmas present. For the record, I've tested it for viruses and it came up negative.

Very unusual! the purple shading is really different and the lip colour is one of my favourites.

Beautiful flower. The feather is aparent in the petals. Why on earth do you think this plant is virused? This is how it was engineered and designed by nature. The feathering is symmetrical and mirrored exactly in the second petal= now if the feathering is jagged and sporadic, then its a virus. If the others cant grow this well then it might have something to do with your environment and care not a virus. Although there are some new hybrids that start weak and through time develop a stronger strain.

I suspect all of my plants of potentially being infected with a virus and test yearly. My reason for the suspicion here is that there is asymetrical coloring on the sepals (barely visible).
