Laelia purpurata (werkauseri X Aco do Clito) X Aco de Clito
Hi everybody, this little one came from Paraguay and is allready blooming, I love the color and the form of the purpuratas (now sophronitis).
I hope you like it as much as I do.
Saludos tepoztecos

Systematics is the science of confusion... or they have now a days not mouch work to do and spend their time changing names and phylogeny according to their daily mood or the taste of their coffe at breakfast
Laelia -> Cattleya -> Laelia ->Sophronitis -> whatever, I propose a new name for 2008: Lacasopurpusomethinga purpurata

Hi Juan! Hi, Kavanaru!
"Laelia" will be forever Laelia, doesn't matter what they do about! After 'Sophronitis', brazilian botanists proposed 'Brasilaelia', to differentiate from mexicans Laelias!!!
About the colors, take a look in the Mauro Rosim's answer to my question: http://www.orchidboard.com/community...html#post65308
Mauro said that 'Aço' (steel), 'Ardósia' (slate) etc. are "all inventions trying to particularize a specific shade of blue that, in his opinion, should not be used". So, you can use a more 'generic' term for 'coerulea', ie, 'werkhaueseri'

A laelia by any other name would be just as lovely! Let these lonely, isolated, academics fritter away their time as they see fit. Beautiful blooms, Juan! and great growing.

I want to Thank everybody for the nice comments, Kavanaru thats a good one and Federico I think Mauro is right, I dont now much about purpuratas but it make sense the things he is talking about, so from now on, my Laelia purpurata is coerulea.
Saludos desde Tepoztlan.
