I have two plants of Chysis tricostata. They are easy to grow with lots of fresh air, water and fertilizer when in active growth.
The flowering stem comes from the new lead, when the plant is strong enough. In fact the new lead stops growing on after 2 months or so and flowers are developed. Flowers did not fully open and were self pollinating, which was disappointing. I have heard that this is the case when kept too warm. They should be kept around 15 - 18°C when flowering. I will try this out next time.
