what a great looking Bc cross you have. They are proving to be some of my faves. Small compact plants,easy to bloom and smell great!!
and right on you blast them with light and keep em from drying out and they bloom back at ya. 
These will bloom as many times a year as you can get mature new growths up in the light. My own little nodosa crosses are starting the 2nd blooming of the year!! Way to go NewYork.

Ooooh, I love this one! It has so many aspects I like -
white flowers
a touch of other colors
shape of flower
shape of leaves
fragrance
What a great plant!
Good job keeping it so healthy and happy and thanks for sharing it. ^_^

Watering....I think many of other new growths failed to bloom because I didn't water it enough. They all had sheaths but nothing. Same strory with my Little Star, which had so many growth and are having some more, the sheath got all dried up or blasted. One of them made it and is making lots of buds.
I like to water and mist plants, but for some reason I tend to dry out cattleyas too much.
By the way, I just broke off one bud on this plant, so I now have one bud.

I wish all cattleyas had pencil like leaves while having big flowers so I could stack up more plant along the windowsill.

It is one of those plants that I almost didn't buy, but at the end, I go, "good thing I bought this baby!"
I wasn't attracted by pencil like leaves, but the buying point was lots of buds at the time and the great fragrance the seller was telling me about.
Well, it is definitely one of my favorite plants ever! |

Wow! That is absolutely fantastic!!! I just love nodosa crosses, and I've never heard of this one either! I'll have to keep my eye out for one of these!!
 ...one question if you don't mind? How do u know when a sheath isn't going to produce a spike? I have a couple B nodosas that have a few sheaths, and a Bc. Yellow Bird that has a few as well... I bought them this way (bag babies) and am not so familiar with these types... (the yellow bird has huge ones, they r large & hanging out, and the nodosas are still small, and tucked away inside the fold of the leaves & the dried "husk" P'bulb covering - don't ya love my technical terms?) ...Lol, or should I start my own thread? |
