Thanks everyone! The Lc. Dakao has since opened much wider and seems to have grown in size. I was in a hurry to photograph it yesterday since we are going to the lake right away. These two are coming with me so I can enjoy them

The mount seems to be working well for Lc. Dakao. There is a new growth on the other end of the plant and a very small one that started and has stopped, likely because the plant is blooming. Roots are attaching themselves to the log so it must like it well enough. I fill the log with plain water, but also water the moss and surface very frequently with nutrients.

Your lovely photo makes me yearn for my Samantha Duncan that I lost years ago. The color is so vivid. The mounted LC is lovely and looks very happy on the ceramic log. Good growing!

Thanks. Still enjoying both of these. The Lc. Dakao has really opened up and the bloom has increased in size somewhat! The 2nd bud on Samantha Duncan has opened up as well.

I like that second cattleya!

I heard about that mount. I would love to try my mini catt on it in the future.

Wow to both of them. Very nice. I too am becoming enamored with mini's. They are much quicker to grow to blooming size than big BLC's and come in more color combos. Very nice young lady.

Really love that ceramic log, the plant looks just absolutely amazing on that! I have to grow everything under lights, so mini and compact catts are my preferred choice. There are so many out there, and every time I take a look at these boards I end up adding a whole bunch more to my list of must-haves, which I can probably never buy anyways because of my limited room. And one more thing drives me a little crazy about this place and you people - every time I think I've settled on a way to pot or mount the orchids, I see or read something on this board that throws all my plans up in the air and have to re-think everything! That log for instance, just wow!

Thanks everyone! I've been at the lake where I dragged these two out with me to enjoy. Lc. Dakao is still going strong with its scent having developed very well over time! Pot. Samantha Duncan is now finished but I really enjoyed her.

Sadly, the lady who made these ceramic log mounts and I think has made them for years, has quit and her website is gone too. I only got two and was going to give them a try and then get more if my orchids liked them. I have 3 Tolumnias mounted on the other one. I really like them and when I went looking for more she was gone. She was from Oregon. I e-mailed her and she confirmed she is no longer making them but I don't know why.
