Laelia purpurata var. estriata - another
Here's another variety estriata. Following Ross, I'm testing a clearer background, just as experimentation to see what happens! What do you think?

Love it, great photos. To me, they are clearer and the edges sharper (but probably just my eyes.) Thanks Mauro, beautiful Laelia.

Very nice, and I like the background better.

Gorgeous, no matter what the back ground color. Call me old fashioned, I still like black!

Ross,
It’s just another test. What do you think of this dark green background that gets darker from the bottom to the top? Does it introduce much noise or produce an agreeable effect in your opinion? Still too dark?

I do like the black background. . .kinda seems scientific to me. LOL And makes it easier to mix and match photos if you need to group them for a project, say a book.
But I do like the dark green background too. . .maybe a try a little lighter green. I do really like the idea of your using a background that gets darker towards the bottom and lighter at the top.
Edited to add, I would also like a mottled velvety brown background. . .lighter and dark tones of brown along with a darkish cream hue.

On my color-calibrated monitor (LaCie 19 Blue) it appears as black. My experience is that one needs to shine a light onto the background if one wants the color to be a factor. In this case I would wash a light across the background from top to bottom (or bottom to top) to pick up the green. You are using calibrated light sources, right? In other words you know the degrees K of each light source for use in your image processing software? I think this would be a dramatic background and, if you don't mind, I may try it on one of mine. I have some bright green flocking that would be great for this purpose. Thanks for asking. I still like that blossom!
