Default Ctt. Aussie Sunset 'Cosmic Fire' in bloom

I got this bare root from H & R Nurseries in Hawaii last Oct. After a soak in seaweed water and potting it up, it threw out a new growth and a huge network of roots around it from the latest mature growth which had a small sheath. The sheath dried up and stalled all winter. Then in early spring both the old sheath and the new growth (without a sheath) put out spikes with two buds each. All 4 buds opened the other day to give me a nice fragrant and colourful display!

Thanks Picotee, SJF, Orchids4ever and cbuchman.

SJF, I did purchase a Catt. amethystoglossa as a medium seedling and Den. Frosty Dawn last fall as well. The C. amethystoglossa is growing fine but the Den. has never done well since I got it and didn't have as many good roots as I would have liked. I hope it pulls thru tho. I think they have great plants and because I am in Canada they have to come bare root which doesn't help. I've ordered several times over the years thru our society. I have a good sized Bc. Maikai 'Spotted Star' and my Iwanagara Apple Blossom is still in bloom for the 2nd year in a row, that cam from H & R.

Thank you, Silken. I have been considering placing an order and reviews really help. Do you have favorites that you have gotten from them over the years? I wrote down the ones you mentioned. Easy, frequent bloomers are a plus living in the NE.

I hope that your Dendro. pulls through.

I really like my Iwanagara Apple Blossom. It is a favourite. Mine was a young plant and grew for several years before it bloomed last year in May and now again. The blooms so far have lasted for a month and I remember last year they lasted at least that long too. It's nicely scented ass well. And this Aussie Sunset is really nice if you like the art shades or sunset colours and very scented as well. I am not sure how long blooms are going to last as it just opened a few days ago.

But I guess everyone's tastes are different too!
