When I got it I put it in full sun but a leaf edge burned.
I give it southern window exposure but I am in the 2nd floor so in the summer the light does not penetrate much and there is a tree outside (tree of heaven). Anyway i try to hang it outside, it has been growing new leads constantly. In the fall i added a 90 W and 135 W to my 2 southern windows (1 UFO per window) and they seem to make the plants happier.
Anyway in Mexico I noticed that orchids grow way more shaded than I expected. I saw Myrmecophilas growing under the Red Mangroves' canopy and spiking above and so on. Tillandsias looked like they grow there in brighter light.
I have another Brassavola nodosa I got recently from Andy's on sale at some local show that is mounted on a branch and the leaves are smaller, lighter green and more terete (like they are more rolled in and succulent). I should take a photo of teh 2 together. I am sure there are many different variation as Brassavola nodosa grows in many countries and the environment changes a lot so there may be a lot of variability... Anyway for me is one of the easiest orchids. Grows a lot and no bud blasts or drying sheaths in low humidity (as is in the winter here)
