Encyclia cordigera
Hi everybody!
I got this a few years ago from Oak Hill Gardens and it has finally bloomed! Seems to like TONS of light! The flowers are really exceptional and almost have a reddish hue. Its very fragrant when the sun hits it... A new favorite!!!

Very pretty! I have a baby one. Whenever I saw these at shows, I would rush over, sniff, and look at the tag, realize it was a cordigera, and see from the size of the bulbs that mine has long way to go. Congratulations! This is a great one!

This is the first blooming for my plant, but it really isn't all that big. Its in a 4" clay pot with osmunda and coconut husk chips... the pseudobulbs are about the size of a lime and with leaves the growths are only a foot tall. Who knows... maybe it will turn into a monster like my other plants?!?!?! (I have seen MUCH larger specimens of this plant, but I'm guessing it was seed grown, so maybe I got lucky with a plant of smaller stature) [I hope!!!]

Very nice. I love that E. cordigera fragrance. You're right, they do need a lot of light.
