Looking for an AM/AOS Blc. in ORANGE! Male
Smile Looking for an AM/AOS Blc. in ORANGE!

Howdy everyone! from a hobbyist from Oklahoma City.
I've grown orchids for about 5 years, but just got a computer at home. There are so many sources for plants at my fingertips! And new to this forum which is a GREAT source of information! (This internet is enabling my orchid addiction)
Anyway, I've just started searching for a BIG BRIGHT ORANGE BLC. CLONE (not red-orange or pale orange) that is an AM-AOS plant.
If anybody knows the actual name of such a clone, if one exists, please let me know. And if you know a source for such a clone, (I prefer smaller plants reasonably priced) so much the better, but I don't mind doing my own research. I just don't want to spend so much time looking for something that does not exist.
Thank You in advance for any information!

THANK YOU Merlyn! I found that same list last year while using library's computer but have lost my print out. I'm going to print it out tonight after work & have a HEYDAY looking at each vendor.
And THANK YOU Sweetjblue for your imput. I have used Hausermann's for several years and I have a couple of the orange novelty clones but I'm looking now for a really BIG orange mother. LOL

BLC George Hauserman 'King'. It is a truly beautiful ORANGE. It's breathtakingly spectacular. You may find it hard to get. You might try directly to the Hauserman site. It isn't listed in their catalog, but you might write them as they may have a few still around.

I was just looking at some orange, and some yellow catts at the Tamiami Orchid Festival. I would suggest attending the shows that come within your area.

The best awarded cloned are usually from two sources.. the aurantiacas (sp?) and the dowiannas (sp?)

The former with be of the smaller size, and the latter towards the standard catts.

Unless you look for the Laelias, but those will be smaller plants/flowers.

I have both the Lc Chit Chat (awarded 91 pts) and Lc Trick or Treat (85 pts) and these, in my opinion, are the best bang for your buck. While the individual flowers will be on the smaller size, the spikes can have spectacular blooms of 20 or more flowers, making the great displays. Especially the Chit Chat. Last year I had 4 spikes on a 7 p-bulb plant. I should have 10 or more this year.

This is not my plant, but an example of what they look like...
