Do you run it 24/7?

I have them growing next to several herbs and next to another mini-catt. The two orchids are inside a large bowl with pebbles which seems to provide enough humidity. I'm curious though, I've found some aphids on my mint plant and was wondering if that would spread to the orchids. I haven't seen any signs of infestation yet, but I was wondering if anyone used some sort of pesticides on their orchids? I tried using more gentle pesticides on several house herbs before and I think that's what killed them.

I do not think I would use pesticides on herbs I may end up eating. Would use a mix of dish soap water and alcohol. chop down the infested branches.
On orchids I would use pyrethrins, imidclorprid systemic. but first I would try the soap / neem oil stuff

For the aphids, get a bottle of rubbing alcohol, and a windex type sprayer. It'll kill the lil buggers, but not harm your plants.
I have a few B. nodosa hybrids (about 50) and most are mounted on either hardwood mounts, or tree fern totems. We cannot water them enough. BUT, I water less during our coldfronts. So they may get a watering every other day, when temps go below 60% we won't water.
Keep in mind we are growing outside in zone 10b (south Florida)

Thanks Discus for your comment. I'm probably just a little paranoid since I've lost other kinds of plants while I was away for more than 2 days. I used aluminum wire to anchor it to the pot. I'm keeping all my plants close together to maintain humidity. I'm not sure how direct sun through 2 panes of glass will effect a newly potted brassavola, but we'll just have to see. There's lots of new growth, which has progressed even after repotting.
