Default AWESOME Fall Cattleyas!!!

Hey Everbody!

Well, its that time of year again! The flowering season has commenced! I am so BEYOND THRILLED with my cattleyas this year... I just can't believe the difference in my plants since moving to Durham from Pittsburgh! They all have their own unique/beautiful scent, too! (Especially Epc. Landwoods... WOW- that little guy makes the WHOLE room smell like citrus in the morning!) Enjoy, Ya'll!!!

They are:

Blc. Mem. Crispin Rosales 'Carmela' AM/AOS
Epc. Landwoods 'NN'
Ctt. Chocolate Drop 'Volcano Queen'
And last, but not least (!)... my faithful and gigantic NOID (it has really out-done itself this year with 25 blooms!)

They are awesome as you say! All of them just lovely. That Epc. Landwoods "NN" must be added to my wish list and too bad the NOID is a NOID or it would be added too!

Wow, what gorgeous Catts!! Love the Catt time of year. The 'NN' really looks really nice, looks like those blooms are made of wax.
Glad to hear that the chids are loving the change of house. Do you grow them mostly outside there?

They all look beautiful! Your Crispin Rosales has more yellow in the throat than mine. I really like your semi-alba NOID. I love the small catts with lots of flowers. Good growing.

Glad you guys have enjoyed them! I grew them outside from the end of April through early October... which is AWESOME! And, the winter weather down here is generally sunny, so they still get plenty of light (unlike Pittsburgh's 'dark season'!). I absolutely love the NOID... I have used its blooms for my sister's bridal bouquet, and my friend Erica had one of its blooms in her hair when she was married. Hence, I refer to it as the 'wedding cattleya'! It is such a special plant.

And Tucker, you can't tell from the photos, but it is a HUGE PLANT in a 10" clay pot. I've made a long-term project of growing it to specimen size. I can barely lift it for watering!!!

***If ANYBODY has thoughts as to it's identity, PLEASE SHARE!!!***

It came from a local greenhouse in Pittsburgh (though I purchased it at a grocery store!), and I've debated giving them a phone call to track down it's true name!

Epc. Landwoods has been wonderful as well, blooming every year in late fall or winter. It has fairly 'plain' blooms, but it is such a cheerful little fragrant fellow. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
