Paul -
I thought the same thing when I saw this one bloom, I asked my friend about it and he said that there where a few that came out with a pale greenish yellow hue. I can only assume that the original cross may have done the same. Considering the tampensis parent I can see how that could possibly happen.
It's funny though, I have about three or four tampensis crosses that look so similar in size, shape and color that one would think that they came from the same cross and grex. On the other hand, I have tampensis crosses that are highly colorful. My plan for next spring is to make as many tampensis crosses as possible, looking to increase the color variation in the crosses. My thoughts are to use very dark colored Cattleya crosses that are known to be dominant for color and see what happens.
My other interest is in Schomburgkia hybrids, I can't wait to see what a tampensis X humboldtii cross might look like.

hehe - I just noticed the new avatar pic in another thread - he's a beauty! 20lbs! wow - BIG kitty! I do find it funny that most people the first thing they say when they see my cat is something about how big he is - when, at about 13 lbs, he's definitely not small, but still a fair amount smaller than some cats - like yours

{This is a remake of the original 1966 cross, the C intermedia used was var amethystina and the tampensis was pollen from normal variety wild plant.}
{I wouldn't call it very vigorous.}
{I would like to know why you thought it was an alba intermedia and a semi-alba tampensis, just curious.}
I just thought about the possible combinations of forms for each parent. I considered white C intermedia with red lip x Ency. tampensis v alba, but the offspring probably would have had no veining in its lip.
With C intermedia alba x Ency tampensis (regular form), the veining would be there. I figured the tan would be recessive, but might still impart some petal color.
I must have still been sleeping. I didn't even think about C intermedia v. amethystina. We even cloned & grew a batch of them years ago.
I just thought that C intermedia would have given it more vigor. Maybe being mounted keeps it a bit diminutive.

Enc tampensis is an interesting parent. Just when you think you know what to expect from it, it throws you a curve ball.
Take Catyclia Ken Anderson (C Valentine {the 1900 version} X Enc tampensis) as an example, I'm friends with the hybridizer who made that one also, he used an alba tampensis in his cross and this is what came out:

Thanks!!
I don't dare tell him about the compliments, his head is already swollen. He can spend hours looking at himself in the mirror. Too funny!

Very pretty! Since it's not yellow,wWhere does the Lemon Delight part come in? Does the name come from the fragrance?

Tucker -
I am also confused by the name. As far as I can tell there isn't any fragrance.
Puckpuggy -
Wonderful flower, it so obviously takes after the C intermedia parent more than mine does. Can I ask you where you got yours from? Mine was made by a friend and he didn't release them commercially, only a few friends got any from him. I ask because I would love to get one that looked more like yours.
