Default My Encyclia bractensis in bloom

everybody !!! It's been a while since I last posted any pictures of my plants in bloom, not because they haven't bloom but because I haven't taken pictures and haven't had as much time with them as I would like. Anyways I'm off from work today and had no shores pending so decided to mingle a little with my babies. Here is my Encyclia bractensis purchased back in February at the Tamiami Orchid Festival from H&R nursery. I love the blooms and the overall size of the plant. It's a mini gem. Enjoy

A great little species! If I remember correctly, mine puts out a nice fragrance in the morning sun.

Nice plant I have 2 myself received the seccond one this weekend as the first is not growing very well (import from Taiwan). I hope to pollinate them one day as looking from the flowers the Taiwanese clone has the larger nice flowers.

Ps. the correct name should be Encyclia bractescens

Be careful with this one. If the media *ever* gets stagnant, the roots will rot and it will decline literally in days. Much more sensitive than most to stagnant media.

I've read somewhere as a cultural tip that if you grow them potted they should have little media. Mine are almost on purely bark leaving the rhizome free.

Thanks everybody for the comments. I plant on it being mounted as soon as the last flower drops or in a basket. I would like to see it clump up and form a ball. i probably did mispelled the name.
