New growths have black tips

Hey all, I have a large Cat Hybrid (SLC. Twilight X BLC. General Grant) which has several new growths in different places. The new growths are about 3 ins. and look more like shoots which have nothing yet that resembles leaves or bulbs. Recently these "shoots" began to develope small areas at the tips that are black/brown, which are dry and brittle to the touch, not wet or soft. Is this one of those cats that this is a normal thing? Or am I doing something wrong, perhaps not enough calcium? I know I'm not overwatering as I water once every week/week and a half just to keep the older bulbs from shriveling. Any help would be great as it will break my heart if I have to remove these growths.

Also, they have sappy/sticky droplets that are on the sides at times...is this normal?

Pbulbs and foliage develop as the new growth gets bigger. I'm not sure what could be causing the black dry tips. Black sounds like rot, but dry does't. Can you post some pix ?

If the sticky droplets are sweet. It is very normal. Not sure about the black tips. Pictures would help.
