Laelia purpurata var. anelata and var. oculata - the differences
Here are two plants representing two different varieties. When the color mark forms a ring on the entrance of the throat and do not spread through the mid lobe or down the throat the variety anelata is configured. When the ring has an interruption in the middle, leaving two 'eyes, one on each side, then we have the variety oculata. In this last case, it is allowed that the color spreads through the midlobe, but always interrupted in the centre by the white band so that there are always two 'eyes'.
