In flowers since a couple of days and exactly at the same date than last year. Although the plant is not very tall (40 cm; 16 "), it is probably the variety" low land" because the flowers color is not very dark.
Actually, that is dark for C. maxima. It may very well be a cross of the lowland and highland forms.
If anyone is lookingfor this species, Odom's Orchids in Florida has a seed-raised population at a great price. They brought them to the Sarasota Show last year and I believe they were $15 in flower at the show.

In a mix made with bark: 70% - CHC (coco chips): 30% and a little coarse peat.
ok thanks..mine now is on cork...i got a lot of quercus suber not so far so now I trying if my maxima appreciate to stay on cork jointed as bark substrate with a little bark (10%)..it seems it does for now
