The species has been widely grown here in Taiwan. With good care, it is able to bloom all year round.

Nice bloom, Pheli! They are really interesting plants, aren't they. I also have one that should be opening very soon and it's one of my favourite orchids.

I have one but it hasn't done much yet. Could you share some culture tips please?

Chris,
I grow it like other encyclias or cattleyas.
Compared with cattleyas, it should be watered often because it has thinner leaves.
Encyclia cochleata is a very active grower.
So regularly fertilizing the plants is important for them to bloom.

Hi Chris, My Encyclia Green Hornet is growing in straight sphag moss, loosely packed, and with styrofoam chips at the bottom for good drainage. At present (hot summer weather) I'm watering about every five days and fertilizing every other week. Looks happy! Good luck with yours!
