Blc. Chia Lin 'New City' AM/AOS
I'm not a big fan of large floofy Catts, but this one was a Christmas gift last year. It's a first rebloom. I thought Chia Lin 'New City' was supposed to be red. This is more like a very deep magenta. It came from Smith & Hawkin so the tag could also be wrong. It has a very pleasant spicy scent.

I like the floof also, and the fragrance. Mine is Blc.Chia Lin "Red Rose". Has more yellow in the lip. Jim.

Wow, Terri! Congrats on the rebloom! I'm not a big floof-fan either. But the striped lip on yours is to die for!

Floofy or not, this is a fine orchid, Terri! I grow it too and also the clone 'Biorchids'. People usually call them red, but I agree with you that they are not true red, at least not that bloody red we'd expect! Congrats on you beautiful flower!

This is a gorgeous cattleya! Classic in every sense of the word. You've done a great job with her!
I like yours too, Jim!

Thanks for your nice comments everyone! Mom gave it to me last year for Christmas. The day she brought it home she took a picture of it. The day after the flowers promptly fell off. She printed out the picture she had taken and taped it to the stake. She and Dad are coming up to my house on Tuesday. I hope this bloom can hang on long enough for her to see it.
Question for you Catt growers. This growth started out with 2 buds, but it promptly aborted one. This seems to be common for my Catts. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, if anything. I am watering as usual, not quite as much in the winter. The house gets pretty cool at night, 50's-60s depending on how cold it is outside. They get plent of light in a south window with T5s. Any ideas??
