Brassavola nodosa
Even though I usually enjoy wierd, unusual plants the most, this extremely common critter is still my favorite Catt type species. Right now I only have 2 spikes, but they both grew so long that I could not fit the plant in my usual picture taking area so I had to take the pics on my couch. Sorry for the shoddy shots, but I have MUCH better pics of the same plant from last year in my gallery so there was not as much pressure to get a killer shot! Anywho, enjoy!

Oh yes, the Lady of the Night! Just something about her that everyone seems to have in their collection. Very nice.

I'm with you Steve, this is probably my favorite Catt species too. The scent these put out is just amazing. If they could bottle this scent, I'd be wearing it right now!
Great looking plant you've grown!

I love this cat too. Nice pictures. It seems to bloom all the time for me since I got it in May and repotted and divided it. The fragrance is wonderful.

In the third pic you can see that I use Keawe (mesquite) as a sun block for my nodosa (and most of my other 'chids). It doesnt do much when the sun is out (the leaves of the keawe fold in during the hot part of the day), but when its cloudy the leaves stay erect, thus making it more shady when the sun is hiding. Im guessing that with our cloudy days lately, the buds were reaching for the sun and the stem grew until they outpaced the 'shadehouse' and got full sun. Totally accidental occurance! The flowers on this years bloom seem to be MUCH larger than previous years as well, however, I cant explain that one!

One of my faves too. In fact, it was the second orchid I ever got. Great pics as always!
