Two great colors, and two scents? Double your pleasure, for sure. Way to go, Steve!

Steve, that's a great plant! I love the color combo. Is that one from H&R?

Absolutely stunning, Steve. Now I have a new one to search for. Any ideas where they are available before I tear my remaining hair out looking?

Terri and Ross,
I got this one at a local show and the label does not have the name of the nursery. It is, however, labeled B. nodosa x Epi. cordigerum v. alva. I know, the alba is spelled wrong, the cordigerum should be cordigera and the Epi should be Enc. However, when I Googled the whole cross, I got http://www.brosonline.org/Newsletters/February2008.pdf Still nothing of importance, but its a start. Happy hunting!

Ok, so I couldnt help myself and try to figure out from what vendor I got this plant. I followed up on my own advice (see above) and in the link in my last post there is a blurb about a gentleman who won a ribbon for this cross. His plant pic is here DSC07861.JPG and it looks nothing like mine! The colors do tend to fade yellow in this hybrid (like most nodosa hybrids do), so that could explain the difference.

Ooooh, is that gorgeous, Steve. I love that color combo. I love anything nodosa and the scent is probably the greatest of all my orchids. It reminds me of honeysuckle...just the best scent, ever. I'm not sure what the cordigera smells like but my Enc. trulla reminds me of licorice/anise...anything like that?
I'm keeping my eyes opened for this one. I think I have to have one, too!
Happy growing!

I wish I could say! I have no idea how to describe scents! I can say that the morning scent is different from the typical nodosa nite time scent and that it is not like licorice. I know that scent! lol Anyway, as Ive just begun to get into the Encyclias, I would imagine that if you have grown other Encies, you know their smells better than me!!

Steve,
I did a search of my own and discovered that the B. nodosa x Epi. cordigerum hybrid is Encyvola (Eyv.) Megan. The spelling on you tag wasn't wrong, it's just that the taxonomists got a hold of Epi. cordigerum, which is now E. cordigera.
I think it's a beautiful plant, and thanks to your post, it's going on my wish list!
