Hi, Claudia!
Your flower is undoubtedly Cattleya harrisoniana. Cattleya harrisoniana is recognized as a true species Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew: World Checklist Series and also is considered for hybrid registration. C. loddigesii is a winter bloomer while C. harrisoniana a summer bloomer. They do not overlap in the nature. There is a lot of misunderstanding about it, which only makes things more difficult for all. Things like interbreeding with C. loddigesii due to overlapping habitats give the idea that they co-exist and this is not true. The structure of the lip also presents relevant taxonomic differences.

Dorothy, I was reading again what I wrote in my post and I wanted you to know that I was not referring to yours when I said about the overlapping habitats . I wanted to say that many times nurseries get some info and take it as true without carefully checking. But, I must say that it is understandable the difficulty they (and all of us, in the end!) have to get good information .

Hi Mauro. Your comments above are very much appreciated. Would the C. loddigesii var. harrisoniana 'Volcano Queen' that I have be more correctly called C. harrisoniana 'Volcano Queen'? C. loddigesii var. harrisoniana is printed on the label. It bloomed earlier this month (summer in Hawaii).

Yes, H. Sunshine, yours also is C. harrisoniana. The name on the label should be Cattleya harrissoniana 'Volcano Queen'! You can correct it for sure!
