I buy many of my orchids years away from blooming and I am fine with this. Most of my collection, actually, has some years to go until there will be blooms but I know it is going to be worth it. :)

I like buying young plants. I feel really accomplished when they finally bloom, and I have few enough that i can pay at least occasional individual attention to each plant, so I can turn the pots as the sun moves in the sky through the year to keep the growths growing upright instead of at an angle, and I can pay enough attention to them to keep them looking their best. Then when they finally bloom, it's such a good feeling, almost narcotic. I don't mind how long I have to wait for this one. When it's ready, it will happen, and I'll feel like I really did something special, especially since I waited so long and went to so much trouble to get not just any tenebrosa, but the best tenebrosa I could find.
