C. dowiana aurea
This one topped my "bucket list" of orchids. He's looking a little more "Rosita" than "aurea" this year, which I really like. I have had him for four years and this is the most flowers per spike yet - five. It is incredibly fragrant; sadly the flowers only last about two weeks, but a glorious two weeks it is!

Amazing!
Is dowiana harder to bloom than other unifoliates? I have 5 or 6 in different stages and I so look forward to these type of blooms!

I think dowiana has a reputation of being intolerant of wet conditions in the winter. I also heard that you have to be careful about repotting, but I have never grown one myself.

I got it from Ben Oliveros of Orchid Eros here on the Big Island. I can't believe I have kept it going for four years. I have another Rosita that did not bloom this year that I got from Kawamoto several years ago.

Ah, very nice. I never made it over to Orchid Eros when I lived there. I’ve heard good things though.

Very nice! I have been thinking of getting one myself and I probably will now, despite my preference for smaller plants. Mine is going to be mounted!

Stunning blooms! I'm still new to growing cattleyas but it's going on my wishlist for sure.
