"Nubbins" is perhaps the cutest word in the English language, right up there with "piglet" and "mitten".

Peeling back the dried leaf tissue seems to have awakened them--one has swollen noticeably since yesterday!

I can't tell if it did any big damage or not but it must've gotten at least a few mouthfuls. Rage!

It looks like the slug ate the first outer layers of the developing spike. I guess we'll see if it turns out to be anything. Damn little boogers!
Luckily a smaller bulb is also showing a couple of smaller nubbins so all is not lost...unless there are more slugs!

Chances are it'll produce another spike. When these guys are healthy (and yours is!) they really want to bloom.
I lost a spike to a giant slug that had been hiding in the pot (GRRRR!) last year and it popped a new spike shortly after the mauling.
