When to Start Watering Stanhopea jenischiana?
I got a blooming size plant (8-9 pseudobulbs) two years ago from Andy's with the understanding that it needs a drier winter rest. Last winter I kept it what I thought was pretty dry by Stanhopea standards, but alas no flowers. This winter I've been brutal, almost as dry as my deciduous Dendrobiums. The leaves have stayed very nice, but the pseudobulbs definitely wrinkled up a lot. In spite of this, I'm starting to see new growth. I figure this is nature's way of telling me to start watering, but would like some input from folks who have bloomed theirs. Thanks!
