Default Catasetum sawdust mix update

Thanks to euplusia I did test this Catasetum sawdust mix. This was the first Catasetum potted in it last year the end of November, saccatum lita. It seems to enjoy it very much, there is lots of new, healthy looking roots growing all over the pot. I did pot more of my Catasetums last month to the sawdust mix.

seems interesting, here some of the local nurseries here is using coco peat instead of sawdust.
anyone had try using coco peat?

basically i am not a big fan for organic media for my catasetums but i am quite interested in the saw dust mix. compare to coco peat i think they would last longer before starting to break down.

I am glad to read that it works for you. Did you take pure sawdust, Tomas?

euplusia, it seems working really well. I did purchase sawdust from red cedar on the ebay, than purchased some clay pellets, not sure if it is the same stuff you do use, they sold it sa clay pellets. I mixed it and added dolomite powder.

WM sells pine sawdust ( large-shavings ) in its pet section. The bag is marked as suitable for basically all pets ( reptiles, hamsters, rabbits etc ). It appears to be made from untreated pine.
Would anyone know if this can be substituted or part- substituted in a plant mix ?
