I bought a number of catasetinae from this vendor at the same time. A year later when I tested for virus I found that several were infected CymMV. I didn't notify the vendor since I had had the plants for more than a year before testing. More recently, someone else here commented that they had purchased some phals from this vendor that were found to be infected and that when she had contacted the vendor to ask for a refund, the vendor was not very accommodating. That said, many catasetinae seem to have viral infections and if you want some of the less common plants it may be necessary to risk these problems. If you still want to know the name of the vendor then send me a PM.

I'm not surprised...I've heard a couple of other people say the same thing about the Ctsm group. I've also heard this about many Lycaste in cultivation.
Actually...you know...I've read/heard that virus is a LOT more common in collections...more so than most people realize. I don't test every plant that comes into my collection so I assume it's here and I handle all my plants as if they might have something.

I had wanted a Cl. russelliana for about 40 years ever since I saw one at Stewart's Orchids in Los Angeles (actually, Temple City). This was in the very early 1970s, I believe that Cl. russelliana was called Ctsm. russellianum back then. Stewart's had a wonderful glasshouse complex with a large variety of orchids on display. The glass house complex had a central sales area with cymbidiums on display and attached to this were perhaps a dozen glasshouses that you could freely wander through. Nearby they had another building, a laboratory where they did their mericloning work; this building had some large glass windows so that you could look inside and watch the technicians at work.
