Fantastic idea im going 2 give this a try. Mine keeps flopping over.....I cant keep it stabilized....and I have tried...

It all depends. I have the same plant, got it in July, and it lost one leaf, the bottom one, after the transport I assume. Now it is pushing 2 spikes, but all the greens are gorgeous and green so far. I just know it might happen at any time, and I would assume, if you do everything right, that this is just the beginning of prepare for winter rest, it may be loosing the leaves slowly for the next few months, or be done by the end of october:-)

Mines lost the bottom 2 and counting. We even have started having cooler weather...but my leaves look like your 1st one. But I have a great growing spike. Did you order Kawamoto from ebay 2. Looks like their work.

Ok, I feel better now to hear that others have spikes and dropping leaves at the same time. I really didn't want to go digging around in the pot looking for problems while there were spikes and buds. So I can relax a bit now! I'm so glad you guys are here to ask these questions!

Yes, Kindrag23 it was from Kawamoto. I love them! I also got a Renanthera Red Dragon at the same time!
