Hi, bought this as Ctsm sanguineum, which it obviously isn't.

Anybody have any ideas?

Sorry in advance for the bad pictures, I was in a rush this morning.

It kind of looks like its got some Clowesia in its background, though I'm sure someone with better Catasetum ID powers should jump in. Either way, it looks really cool.

Gorgeous... not 100% sure, but I would say Catasetum naso (or Ctsm sanguineum as second option - both species are very similar)... not a common coloration for any of these species though, however not impossible...

no Clowesia in this one...

where did you get it from?

The only reason I'm skeptical of the naso/sanguineum is because the lip has 3 lobes on the apical portion. Thats quite a striking difference from the "nose" on naso - which is only one lobe.

well, yes, indeed a bit awkward... that's why I said I am not 100% sure... however, some Ctsm. naso has this "trilobed" labellum... ok, I must admit I have not seen one so extrem as yours.... (and the colorations is not 100% matching either)

hhmmm... need to check for a picture os Ctsm. naso with 3 lobes... don't remember where I have it...

of course that could also be a hint to macrocarpum as a parent, but I do not remember I have seen nasoxmacrocarpum or sanguineumxmacrocarpum before...

I have two sanguineum plants and the flowers look quite different to ones on this plant. My impression is that this plant could be a hybrid, with one parent being sanguineum of course and the other one possibly macrocarpum to explain the trident shape of the lip.

After looking at this plant more closely, I can rule out macrocarpum, naso, and sanguineum as the triggers are parallel.

Edit - you can see the triggers in the first picture.
