No, not really. It depends on particular specie. But most of them prefer warm or intermediate range of temperatures, which, I think, suits perfect for indoors culture. This range of temperatures can be easily provided at your home. All radiators at my home do have regulators and I can easily change temperature or create lower temperatures at nights according my wish. For this reason curtains help as well to make a desired “microclimate” on your windowsill.

Another plant of the same specie, namely Cycnoches maculatum, is flowering at the moment.

The first shown plant will flower soon for the second time, but this time with female flowers.

Yes, Bruno, now I can see it! And, yes, I fully agree with you, female flowers are more spectacular in this case. The plant which I showed first is flowering now for the second time and this time with female flowers. Here they are - female flowers of Cycnoches maculatum.

Whole plant

Gena those flowers are really spectacular. I don´t know what to say because I am waiting for years to have female flowers in my maculatum and I did everything to have them withou any success. I guess that a few people were able to make primary hibrids with this specie and you should try to make some now that you have such a nice strong plant.
