Ctsm. tenebrosum 'St. Francis' x self
This Catasetum just opened for me this week. This is a first bloom. The tepals of the flowers are dark, almost black-brown. The lip and column are apple green. I found the flowers to be very unusual. They really stood out among the others.

Wow! This was the first Catasetum I bought, and it had the female flowers. This is the first time I've seen the male flowers, I can't believe how much different they are! Mine got a fungus, and I had to remove all the bulbs (except one). It's back up to two now, but I don't know if I'll get a bloom out of it this year....but my macrocarpum and integerrimum are getting ready to bloom, at the same time! Great blooms!

Very nice! Im curious about the timing of your flowers. Did you get flowers during p-bulb growth, or did your p-bulbs mature and then throw out a spike? I ask because I have a tenebrosum that has had several mature bulbs for several months now and no flowers! Would you be able to throw in a pic of the whole plant as well?? Thanks a bunch!

Very arresting! This flower is always unusual, but this color combination is really spectacular. A beauty.
