Hello -
My gongoras are mostly in the wood slat baskets - they are potted with the p'bulbs high, but the inflorescences either arch over the top or poke through the slats. No sphagnum moss for me (satan!). I use a combination of bark, gravel and a touch of fresh horse manure.
I grow outside, and after a few spring wind storms (violent ones) the foliage of all my gongoras looks like banana trees after a hurricane - shredded!
The flowers are still magic, though.
Regards - Nancy
