Clowesia russelliana
Strange flowers, with an incredibly strong scent that's potent enough to be detected from within 15 feet. The scent reminds me of what it's like to walk into a candy store, where the sickly sweet smell can be overpowering. It's been in flower for over a week, and I have banished it to the side of the house that I only visit when I take the dog out to have his midday walk. I held it close to the dog yesterday for him to admire, and he backed away from it. Of course, he then promptly detected some rabbit droppings nearby. So perhaps his taste is not to be trusted.
