Shoot, I would just treat it like another immature growth and make sure its at the surface of the media. This one can't support itself without the attachment to the parent plant, so be careful!

Yeah, I was assuming both of those things. If this guy has any chance it will need the old roots to feed it exclusively until it grows its own so I have low expectations for it.
