The reason that I would think "flower spike" is because if you observe the growth pattern, the P-bulbs grow at the end of a long rhizome, not directly from under the bulb like that. I have a medusae cross, and the flower spikes are very thick like that, and come up directly from the base of the bulb.

I'm pretty sure they're flower spikes, too. Which would be awesome, if I weren't leaving the state for 8 weeks. I may not even be able to enjoy these first flowers!

Photo resolution too low to tell, although the one on the right looks like a growth. Time of year would indicate both are new pbulbs as this plant typically blooms in autumn off new growth.
