Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis
I ordered this orchid last January but because of the weather where I was getting it from was below 32 degrees for several months they nor I wanted it shipped until it warmed up, so I did not receive until March. I was not expecting this to flower so soon but I am not at all upset that he has. I noticed the spike that is in the first picture when it was the size of a green pea and did not think about taking pictures of its growth rate until this picture was taken, next time I will cause it was interesting to watch this one grow, the second picture is when it opened. So far I can not detect an odor, I understand they are suppose to stink.

I love this plant! A local grower had one in bloom a while back, it does have an odor, but it wasn't as horrible as I imagined. While, I didn't think it was that bad my husband thought it was terrible and had to leave the area where the plant was located. 😀

Super cool. I think this one stinks only strongly when you get close. I kind of want one now!

Gorgeous and I am so jealous. I had finally acquired one of these and then I had the heat failure in the greenhouse. RIP to mine.

Awesomely envious!
Do you have a full plant shot? These can be so magnificent!
Currently, my wife won't let me have one, as she'd read about the smell...

Full picture of Bulb. phalaenopsis
Trol,
Full plant picture taken shortly after I got it. Since this picture besides the flower I have had another leaf grow, it's about 2 feet long now.

I got mine this August when it was in bloom and once I put it in the greenhouse and was the bright light it really gave off a smell and in the mornings the greenhouse was pretty stinky. Now it has 3 new growths and I need to repot it. What is yours growing in? Mine's in rock wool.
