Zach -

Is there anywhere I can read about the species you name? I cannot locate it through a google search.

Thanks

There's really not any info online that's of any significance. I can tell you it's a lowland epiphyte from New Guinea. I have the Flora Malesiana CD-ROM and even on that there's only a description and a line drawing. Schlecter described it in his book Orchids of New Guinea as B. harposepalum.

Here are some pictures of the 2nd flower to open, taken without the flash. This one did not spiral as much as the first. Thanks for the input on the name, I guess at this point I can conclude it is not Bulbophyllum restrepia but is possibly Bulbophyllum obavatifolium or Bulbophyllum harposepalum.

Very nice. B. obavatifolium is the most up to date name, harposeplaum is just a synonym. I have my plants labeled as obavatifolium as well. There's also a bright red form, it's rare and quite valuable.

Thanks Zach. Much appreciate the proper ID. Now if I could just find a MOD to edit the original post name to reflect this.

By chance are you any good at identifying key differences B. medusae vs B. vaginatum? I have a B. vaginatum that I highly suspect is B. medusae based on size of the umbel.

Thanks again.

The plants are quite different looking. Post a pic of the plant and flowers if you have them.

Thanks for the reply and assistance. Attached an image of plant with flowers just opening, flowers open, and macro shot of an individual flower.

Plant is labeled as Cirr vaginatum 'Crown Point'.
